Story of our salads

My foray into the world of salads

My introduction to salads was more accidental than planned. After moving to the US in 2004, I was hit with the sheer number of options to eat but at the same time taken aback by the limited options that you can eat given the restrictions Indian have when it comes to what you can eat what you cannot.

Reluctantly I ordered Arugula chicken salad. I had no idea what Arugula was or what the dressing had in it. But first, bite, and I was completely in love with it. The flavors were out of the world, the dressing was lite and the arugula gave a great kick to every bite.

With that, I started to play with different combinations of leafy, vegetables, meats, and of course dressings and I had numerous different salads I can try and not get bored off anytime soon.

Salads in India are a misnomer

After I came back to India, most of the salads I found were bland, less in flavor, and heavy on calories. Salads in India are a misnomer in the sense that Salads are supposed to lite, fresh, healthy, and flavorful. Whereas in India, they are either full of calories to make them tasty or bland and flavorless to try and make them healthy.

In addition for some weird reason, we associate Salad with diet, salad with going hungry, or eating less. It doesn't have to be. We strongly believe that a salad can be a full-filling meal, it can be fresh, delicious, healthy, lite, less on calories, and full of flavor all at the same time.

The food we want to serve

We have coined a new term/ language for your salads. For us, A salad ain't just a meal; it’s a way of life. (usthe e same font and style). We truly believe in this and we have set out to change how people perceive healthy food. We want to bring the best flavors from around the world and make salads and other healthier options – fresh, delicious, healthy, lite, less calorie, full of flavor, or and on top of it – affordable and accessible to all.

What makes salads interesting is the dressings. The dressings should always be lite and never be overpowering. It should let the flavors of the vegetables stand out and should provide a cooling/ complementary role. As we did not want to compromise on the flavor and the quality, we set out to create our dressings from scratch. We use the best quality ingredients, anything that we cannot procure in India, we try our best to get from the US – our goal is to stay true to the flavors and provide our customers with the best salads possible.

We use Olive oil for our oil-based dressings, use the best quality Parmesan and Feta cheeses, and egg-less mayo for our cream-based dressings.
